Run a Morphit node
Operate your own instance. Earn 90% of the BLURT paid listing fees!
Why run a node?
Morphit where it matters
Every additional instance makes the network harder to censor. If your country blocks morphit.io, your instance stays reachable. You serve users who'd otherwise have no way to trade.
Serve your community
Brand the interface for your region, your language, your local payment methods. Users trust frontends that speak their language and feel familiar — yours will.
Minimize metadata leakage
Users trading on your instance might share their request-level metadata with your server and not with anyone else. Their public trading activity (orders, encrypted chats, reviews) is on chain so everyone can verify it.
Encourage users to use a VPN and your (included) Tor and/or I2P addresses. Your alternate, hidden addresses let users reach your instance from jurisdictions where clearnet access is blocked. No SSL/https certificates are needed either and the impact is enormous for users in censored networks and countries.
Paid directly with every fee
Every BLURT-paid listing fee your instance attracts pays you 90% — only 10% goes to the Morphit treasury to fund development and maintenance of the Morphit software. No middleman can access your money: each fee is paid as two automated blockchain transfers — 90% straight to your fees account, 10% to the treasury. Payouts are in BLURT, so if BLURT appreciates, so do your earnings — without any additional work on your part.
What you earn, and what you pay
You automatically earn
- 90% of every BLURT listing fee paid on your site (about $0.125 worth of BLURT each).
- 90% of the Featured-slot bids on your site (you can also set the hourly floor which is 50 BLURT/hour by default).
- 90% of the fees that strangers/spammers pay to send an unsolicited chat message to someone (5 BLURT and up).
Paid on chain straight to your fees account, in the same block as the user's payment.
Your relay account pays
- Startup: 104 BLURT for each new account your site creates (the chain's fee plus 4 BLURT to start).
- 10 BLURT + 10 Blurt Power (BP) upon your user's first completed (paid) trade.
- BP rewards lent: 1 BP welcome stake and loyalty-program rewards up to 1260 BP per user. You can retract it.
- 1 BLURT top-ups to your active users who run low (at most every 3 days each).
Before you go live, put BLURT in your relay account for new accounts and BP in it for rewards. Name squatters are deterred and capped automatically.
Rule of thumb: at a BLURT price of $0.002 a listing fee is about 63 BLURT and your share about 56 BLURT, so 2 paid listings more than cover one new account.
How to get started
- 1
Get a machine and a web address
A cheap VPS or an old PC/laptop running Ubuntu — aim for 4 GB of RAM or more (8 GB is comfy) and 80 GB of disk. A Raspberry Pi 4 works too. Add a domain name (about $10/year) from any registrar and point it at the machine. Hosting from home? No static IP needed — the setup wizard turns on dynamic-DNS for you.
- 2
Run one command
Download the latest "offline" release, extract it into a /morphit/ folder, open a terminal there, and run
sudo bash morphit-setup.sh— then choose "Full guided install." A short wizard asks a few plain-language questions (your domain name (if desired), your 2 Blurt accounts (relay and fees), an email for HTTPS (if you use a domain name)) and sets up everything for you: Node.js, PostgreSQL, the app and its services, auto-renewing HTTPS, the firewall, your Tor and I2P addresses, and Operator tag registration with the federation. No files to edit. - 3
Tell the world about your site
You instantly appear in the /operators and /instances directories and you start earning the 90% share of the Blurt-paid listing fees on your site automatically. See the operator-earnings FAQ for the economics.
Your instance, your asset and payment-methods policies
The federation lets each Operator pick which tradable assets their site supports. You can opt out per-asset and even configure which payment methods your site should support such as Cash, Paypal, Klarna, etc.
- Federation stays intact. Disabling an asset on your instance doesn't hide peer instances' orders from your users — chain history is shared, so your orderbook can still show them.
